We are committed to the implementation of ‘A Curriculum for Excellence’ and therefore all staff work in partnership to ensure the best possible outcomes for young people.
Taking full account of The Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act 2004 we work with local authorities to ensure all our young people have excellent opportunities to improve their learning.
The new school opened in May 2005 offers a high quality facility. We use local resources for outdoor and physical education.

- Along with the local authority and other key professionals we ensure we undertake a robust assessment. This commences prior to a placement, and continues throughout, ensuring that the needs of the young person are under constant review and plans reflect and meet needs.
- We are committed to offering an educational experience of the highest quality.
- We offer flexible, individualised programmes designed to help young people develop personal, social and emotional strengths, leading to improved longer term outcomes.
- Small class groups with a high staff to pupil ratio offer the opportunity to provide effective targeted support.
- Care and education staff work together across 24 hours ensuring a high standard of care and education.
- Young people are fully involved in and encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning.
- We strive to offer a broad curriculum during the school day complimented by discreet programmes designed to improve learning outcomes during leisure time.
- Regular ‘focus group meetings’ bring together education, care and health staff to ensure integrated planning.
