Reviewing the progress of young people and ensuring plans are in place is crucial to achieving best outcomes. We are committed to integrated planning incorporating education, care and health. The integrated plan for each young person encompasses the principles of ‘Getting it Right for Every Child’, and outlines the assessed needs and the work undertaken to meet these needs.
Regular reviews take place as per the requirements of each authority and to meet standards of good practice. It is also essential to establish multi disciplinary relationships. All contributions are important.

Our working party to develop Talking Mats at Stirling University
- Young people have an integral part in all planning and reviews.
- We have a total commitment to working in partnership with all involved agencies and individuals. Regular communication is of paramount importance.
- We will also work closely with parents, carers and other key adults in a family as their input is extremely valuable.
- From the initial referral we will start to make an assessment of needs and develop an appropriate risk assessment and integrated plan that will meet these needs. This plan will include learning across the 24 hour curriculum and focussed pieces of therapeutic work.
- We establish focus groups of key staff who will work with the young person and family. These groups meet on a regular basis to review plans and develop strategies.
- The communication tool ‘Talking Mats’ is used to obtain young person’s view in relation to their learning, their care placement and their future goals.
