Our focus in school is to help our young people achieve in all aspects of learning, keyed to the 'Four Capacities', where we strive to help them become:

  • Successful learners
  • Confident individuals
  • Responsible citizens
  • Effective contributors

Curriculum for Excellence is integral from Early Level to the Senior Phase. Starley Hall offers a wide range of accreditation within the SQA National Qualifications framework, from National 2 upwards. We also offer accreditation through other awarding bodies, such as ASDAN.

This is achieved through our experienced teaching team, and wider education team which includes a number of tutors.

We are constantly developing routes for 'wider achievement', and offer qualifications including:

  • The Princes Trust Award,
  • The Youth Achievement Award from Youth Scotland,
  • Personal Achievement Awards, and
  • SQA Wider Achievement Awards.

Throughout our curriculum, our focus is to help young people to develop the four capacities within Curriculum for Excellence alongside developing Numeracy, Literacy and Health and Wellbeing.

We recognise the 24-hour curriculum is key in helping our young people achieve fully. Education and care staff work collegiately through Focus Groups to develop individual core outcomes for each young person within GIRFEC and the SHANARRI framework.
