We strive to provide the highest quality of care for young people. Each young person is considered an individual and packagers of care are developed around their complex and sometimes unique needs. The care programme works closely with education and health in order to view the young person as a whole and develop appropriate support strategies and focussed interventions. A great deal of young people arrive at Starley with low self esteem, a poor engagement with learning, and with a number of difficulties that are currently negatively impacting on their life.
We are committed to providing an enriching and therapeutic environment that nurtures young people and builds confidence. We encourage young people to make positive choices and engage in new experiences.
All adults have a commitment to working with young people and enjoy their work. We know that adults form positive and important relationships.

Work experience placement
- There is a high quality exchange of ideas across care and education. Opportunities to learn take place across the 24 hour curriculum.
- Consistently high adult/young person ratio. This can be on 1:1 basis if required.
- Accommodation is of a high standard and is well maintained.
- We have a dedicated and highly skilled team with a great deal of experience
- Integrated plans focus on the needs of the young people in regards to; health and wellbeing; leaning; family circumstances/relationships; social and emotional well-being.
- Day education places are available where it is clear we can work in partnership with parents and the local authority.
- We can provide unique opportunities to extend placements for young people beyond their school leaving age. This allows young people to continue their progress and make the very real steps towards realising their potential.
- Adults are clear about expectations and boundaries, so that young people can develop an understanding of how to meet personal targets, and agreed expectations
- Starley is committed to restorative practice and encourages young people to take part in resolution meetings and find ways to move on from situations in a positive way.
