The health and well being of a young person is a priority. We have excellent access to local services.

Some young people have had difficult experiences with medical services, or have had unmet needs. Adults at Starley will support a young person to overcome the impact of these experiences.

We have direct access to a Child and Family Psychiatrist who can provide an evaluation of needs. We are aware that this is a service that is not always available across Scotland.

  • We will whenever possible keep links with a young person's doctor and dentist.
  • Starley Hall has a no smoking policy stating that smoking is not allowed on any site. We will support young people (and adults) to deal with their smoking habit.
  • One of our staff is a senior practitioner in mental health. She provides valuable guidance and advice to adults and young people.
  • We will be pleased to discuss any aspect of the care or welfare of your child. We have experience of trying to deal with unsolved problems from the past.
  • A group of adults are trained in first aid. There are always adults who are able to manage a young person's medication. This whole programme is under the supervision of a qualified mental health practitioner.
  • Young people will be encouraged to make good choices in relation to their health and well being.
